hi and welcome.I'm sorry I cant tell you whether you have a dissociative disorder or any other problem. what we do here is share our problems and good times we go through then someone else posts back to let each other know whether we have gone through the same things, what our own treatment providers call our own problems and how our own treatment providers and our selves are handling those problems.

what I can tell you is that 17 is sometimes a hard age for people and can have the same problems that you posted about, it can be normal or any number or problems.

I can also tell you that the memory problems associated with dissociative disorders is a very special kind of memory problem, its the kind of memory problems that go beyond what is normal. for example for most teens its normal to forget to do something. i mean how many teens complain because they forgot to do their chores or clean their room so their parents grounded them....just about every teen that I know, including those that have no mental problems. its just very common for teens to forget to do their homework, their chores,...

I can also tell you in general its also normal for teenagers (15-19) to question who they are and what they want to do with their life. this usually starts happening because during these ages the schools are focused on things like what do you what to be when you grow up, do you want to be in college, what kind of human being do you want to be. At home most teens are faced with parents informing them that they are no longer children, its time to be more responsible, all kinds of things, not to mention peer pressure of friends applying to college, and other teen age stressers...

I can also tell you what you posted in general is consistent with having what you are diagnosed with.

my suggestion talk with your parents and you doctors. they will be able to tell you whether what you are going through is a dissociative disorder or part of your existing mental disorder, and why they diagnosed you the way they did.
