When I'm really Down, I go to the Library an listen to some instrumental Music (classical, jazz, whatever) and look at books with a lot of Pictures and minimal writing (foto or art books etc).
Going to the Library gives me a change of environment (It's a neutral Place to me), and filling my head With Music and Pictures (without Words!) keeps me away from ruminating thoughts and helps me get on a New track. As well as being a distraction, I think it's a good way of achieving mindfulness.
The times I've done this, It's been like a re-boot.
