What is that like? Is it confusing?
Just wondering.

For me, I was not aware of my Alters until my early 20s, although when I look back on my childhood/teenage years a lot of things make sense; TONS of missing time, comments from family and friends that seemed out of place at that time, etc. It was a traumatic event in my adult-years that broke open my "pandora's box" of internal family to my own consciousness. Before then, I simply considered my mind very 'busy', inconsistent, spacey, incredibly ADD, moody and unpredictable.
I share consciousness with certain Alters, and some I do not. Some I do not share consciousness with because that's just the way it's always been, and some I do not because we've agreed we want it that way; it's a respect thing. That has evolved over time as I have worked in therapy. Some shifts between Alters are seamless and comfortable, others are internally jarring and make me feel.... IDK.... just, off.
I hope that made sense.
