Elsa, I see things out of the corner of my eye too.....it spooks me but I'm used to it.

Standup, it isn't scary more than unnerving and embarrassing. I'll say "what" and people will say "we didn't say anything". It makes me look stupid but that's OK. I'm learning to deal with it.
