I decided today to submit a short story to a writing competition. I have until June 5th to prepare it.
I just wrote 600 words. My story is a literary piece about a young woman who sees her doctor because she still hasn't gotten her period despite being 18 years old. She discovers that she has androgen resistance (a type of pseudohermaphroditism) and is actually male. This leads to an identity crisis. Her boyfriend leaves her because he is "not gay". She nearly has an emotional breakdown, but she figures out how to get through it.
I'm having fun writing it. I think I might like to expand it into a novel after the competition.
