Hi

Apart from medication and therapy, self-help is very good option. it gives you more insight about the problem. also it gives us a satisfaction that we are trying on our own to overcome it. make sure you read self help books and if reading is difficult try listening to audiobooks. watch videos on different therapy like Yoga, Tai chi, Qigong, EFT, Acupressure, Progressive muscle Relaxation(PMR), Breathing Exercise, Meditation.

As somebody mentioned above "The Depression Cure by Stephen Ilardi" is a wonderful read. also try workbooks by David D. Burns which involves mind techniques to practice. try laughter therapy( i make it a point to watch "Just for laugh gags" daily)
try adopting a pet, humans can't match them in showing unconditional love.
