As an update, I think that your original reply was more accurate. I think the real issue was that I sensed that my bf was dealing with something causing him to have lower confidence and slight depression from his own childhood, which we recently discussed in addition to other things. Through our discussion, I feel like we have both developed a better understanding of ourselves.
