You are better off not having a gun around when you are struggling and working through PTSD. When a person is struggling through PTSD they often don't think anyone will be able to help them or they won't get better, that is not the case and when one works through it and begins to see the light, they are always glad they never acted on the dark or bad thoughts they may have experienced.
Also, when men struggle the statistics are greater that they may commit suicide. That is because men problem solve by taking action, whereas a woman is more likely to think it through. Men need extra help to take "action" to actually improve, however, they tend to hesitate to ask for help thinking it is weak to do so, which ofcourse is not true, instead it means "strong to ask for help".
