Yes, I think it's excessive. It sends the message that you are giving them because you want something from her in return (relationship, companionship, attention)-- like she "owes" you something. As a woman, I would find that extremely uncomfortable (and creepy). I'm sure you don't intend it that way, but that is how it probably appears to her.
