Hi mjrwraith
Yeah the depression or downhill that can sometimes end after a manic episode is really not fun at all and I'm sorry to hear that this is the turn of events for you because you're right it's so frustrating and makes us feel so stuck when we're "in the moment" and it's really hard at the time to remind ourselves that this can and will pass, it always does.
It's nice in theory to think that the meds that we are on will act as a buffer to prevent us from dropping that low but the reality is - if they never stopped the mania then well yes, they may not stop the depression, but hopefully they can aleviate some symptoms.
As difficult as it is to remember to practice some self skills when we feel like this, please don't forget to put a bit of time in the day for yourself. A warm bath, reading a magazine, going for a walk in the park, taking the dogs for a walk, listening to your favourite music, watching a good movie - whatever it is that for you, personally, you find a bit of comfort in (in your normal mood state).
Hang in there and let us know how you go.
