I would start by admitting that I had the men-are-pigs drilled into me by others and it is not your own point of view but a learned one. I am very glad you have chosen a non-pig husband and I would discuss this with him? I would laugh at his "hidden" pig parts and together make fun of this concept.

I was born in 1950 and was taught that men always get the larger piece of meat at dinner. In therapy I started to rebel against such obviously "crazy" notions (I was taught in home economics in school the "correct" way to wash dishes too, LOL) that we just learn and accept as "truth". Anyway, came the night I decided I was going to give myself the ever-so-slightly bigger piece of steak and my husband the other piece and I couldn't do it! It had me laughing and so I told my husband about it and it was like opposite poles of magnets! There are all sorts of things that are ingrained in us growing up (or even now) and it can be hard to go against that teaching. My husband is wonderful though, like yours, and we have some great conversations about why we do X when the other person does Y. He curls his hand around his plate at the dinner table and we looked at that -- he suddenly remembered his mother use to try to steal his french fries when he was a child and so he keeps his arm/hand up there to fend her off! He's 72 years old now and his mother long deceased!

Doubt it. That will help change your thinking if you want to.
