I have this really easy job. I drive a lot. And take pictures of homes. The requirements vary per job order. Been doing this since September. However, I will say the constant mistakes have come down a lot since but it seems they happen in spurts. I have anxiety if I am approached or feel that someone at the home may come out and start asking questions. ( this has happened a few times and I seem to match their attitude with my response, so if they are rude I am rude back) so back to my struggle, I seem to forget stuff, especially one of the pictures. Even though I have read the job requirements and know what the job requires. I have tried writing stuff down, tried making a checklist, tried keeping a list on my phone, ( that is what I use to take the pictures) it's frustrating for me to have to go back to a home more than once and cost me more money in gas and time. So I had thought of just quitting. But then I realized what else can I do. I have never lasted more than 3 years at a job and less than a week for others. Time loss, forgetfulness, and not being present seem to be what gets in the way of me staying or doing anything.

Do you feel that accepting mental illness or disorders are part of what's in the way?? I keep thinking if only I could.... But it's really not that simple is it?? I don't know.

I think that is my barrier I can't accept that DID is a barrier or obstacle that needs to be worked on all the time.

What do you think??

Thanks
In general I dont think mental disorders need to be worked on all the time. I mean if someone is constantly thinking about their mental problems then of course those problems are going to happen more....example if you sprain your ankle sure it hurts. but if you spend 24/7 thinking and working on trying to get that ankle to stop hurting, just because you are focused so much on that ankle its going to continue to hurt even after its healed the mind will tell a person its not healed. the mind is an amazing thing. that can conjure up someones worst fears, aches, pains, problems if thats the mind set that someone is in.

with me after I learned that my dissociative problems came with memory problems and time loss I just connected every single instance of those with my mental disorder. turned out I was wrong. my work related forgetfulness and time loss was not always connected to having dissociative disorders. After talking with my treatment providers I found out that forgetfulness and time loss with DID is a very special kind of forgetfulness\time loss. and that there are many different things that can cause very similar problems with forgetfulness and time loss.

some of the non dissociative problems that cause me to have forgetfulness and time loss are ....

anxiety, stress, trying to be perfect, lack of sleep, skipping meals or not eating correctly, my medications, MS, anemia, pregnancy, ,.....

it was so easy for me to say all my forgetfulness and time loss was my DID that I didnt take the time to actually see that it may not be DID related.

I also know older people who have the problem of forgetfulness/time loss and its part of their menopause problems.

my point is breath and take time to talk with your treatment providers. this problem may be so simple as to having a medication change or other adjustments to your life that can help this situation to get better.

Something to think about.... i take it since they are confronting you for doing your job that you dont have permission to photograph these peoples homes...

um. hate to tell you this but in some locations this is actually a crime...invasion of privacy, stalking, to take photos of peoples property and homes with out their permission... ....think about this for a minute.... what if you happened to be home and you noticed some stranger outside taking pictures of your home, what would you think? with me the first thing I do when I see this happening is call the cops. if they have not asked my permission then they dont belong there taking pictures of my property and home. its usually a crime behind this kind of thing like scoping out the property to break in/steal/ or stalking or other crimes so i can understand home owners and others confronting you when you are taking photos of their homes with out their permission.

another suggestion... maybe you can contact the homeowners .....before......going out and photographing their homes. once you have their permission to photograph their homes theres no need to worry about confrontations with the homeowners while you are photographing their homes. if you dont have to worry about being confronted while doing your job maybe you wont be so anxious on the job and in turn that will make it so that you dont have time loss and forgetfulness on the job....
