here in New York when a lender sends out a photographer like they are you, the photographer makes an appointment with the home owner. put simply even though the photographer is there legally to do a job, anyone can call the cops because they see a person hanging out in front of someones home snapping photos can mean anything including criminal activities. the cops then have to take time away from possible other crimes that may be happening in order to varify the persons story that they are there legally doing a job. kind of like 911 operators may end up missing out on helping someone else who really needs their help because they are tied up with dealing with a situation that wasnt an emergency. it also takes time out of the employees getting their job of photographing done if they have to stop what they are doing, go with the police and have the police verify their credential and make sure they really were at that home for legal reasons. By making an appointment with the homeowners that saves time and hassle and stress on all sides not just the photographer. anyway thats how my location deals with this kind of thing.
