I have ADHD and have done some research on ADHD meds over the past year. I also have my own experience with Wellbutrin.
IF you do have ADHD, then the doctor must also treat other conditions such as depression first. Wellbutrin is an SNRI and it is closely related to a medication that was launched as an ADHD medication by the FDA. This med is Strattera. I think it was a marketing ordeal by the pharm companies as the studies show that Strattera only gives ADHDer's some relief. The first line meds are the stimulants and they have been studied longer and have more efficacy in problems with attention, focus and hyperactivity.
So the real fight lies with treating symptoms whether you get an actual ADHD diagnosis or not. I hope that you don't have ADHD, but if you do then it is trial and error even with the stimulants. We are all different and I find that the stimulants only help me sometimes and Welbutrin and Adderall made me aggressive. Good Luck.
