I don't understand why I would not pass a background check since I have no felonies. 15 years ago I had a suicide attempt with cops and ambulance but do they go back that far? A few months a go the police were called to my house for a welfare check because a psychologist thought I was suicidal but that is not what they look for in background checks......right?
I am in such a depression right now over this because I just moved out of state to new place and now I can not get a job. This is escalating my self hatred, worthlessness and despair.

Congrats on the new relocation and career pursuit! Keep in mind, having been on the "looking for work" end of the process, I know that even with excellent professional & education credentials that receiving a job offer can be quite the challenge. On average, one should anticipate taking up to 6 months of active job searching and interviewing - so please be patient and don't beat yourself up while you're searching. I often look back now, and find myself thanking God that I didn't get the job I thought I wanted. Had that happened, I wouldn't be making anywhere near the $$ I'm making now and wouldn't get the opportunity to make the difference that I do. Also, along with background checks keep in mind that most employers do look for social media postings/blogs etc - so guard them accordingly. Again, chin up & remember there will be a lot more "no" responses, but the "yes" response always comes after leaving the door that was closed, and pursuing the next one ahead.
