Actually, the person I most want to confront is my mother who failed to protect me. She knows what happened but we've only talked about it a little, once, and she made it a lot about her pain, not mine, so I stopped the conversation.
If you decide to confront, I think it can be very helpful to have a T to work with before and after the fact to help you decide what you want to say and how to process what happens.
