For each person, it'll be different
For me to recover from loss, it helped to carry on with normal activities (going to work was one of the best things for me to do)
And it helped to plan various activities.
It takes time, and the loss may never really go away, but it'll be easier to deal with.
It helped for me to acknowledge the goodness of the person and to be thankful that we had time to share.
And it helped to take art classes.
