That would be understandable...but it brings you into conflict with his interests because he if focused on escaping institutions rather than going to an institution for help and for his own good.

You are in a hard place. If you explain your position to your son, it may help. Also, try hard to understand his viewpoints too.

It is hard to have a conflict like this with a son (or daughter).
