When I read about the symptoms of ADHD, it feels like I'm reading a description of myself. But only the innattentive part. I don't even have a single symptom of hyperactivity, but all symptoms of inattentiveness.
I also feel like I have anxiety disorder.
I went to a psychiatrist. I told him that I think I might have ADD and anxiety disorder and would like a diagnosis.
His immediate response was "lets not talk about disorders. tell me about your problems".
So I sat there for 10 minutes describing all of the symptoms. He kept on listening for 10 mins and after that he tells me "I don't think you have a mental illness". And then he told me that not all people who lose things, daydream and can't concentrate have ADD etc etc..
All of this took not more than 20 minutes. Within 20 minutes, he just completely ruled out the chances of me having ADD or anxiety disorder. He didn't even ask me a single question. He just sat there listening to me. He didn't even say that he wanted to talk to my parents. Nothing.
Is this normal? Should I see another doctor?
