Variations of the DNST3 gene make Ashkenazi Jews 40 percent more likely to develop schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and manic depression.
The Ashkenazim come from Central and Eastern Europe and include Einstein, Mendelssohn, Chagall, Freud, Rothschild, Kubrick, Golda Meir and Lefty the Salesman, whose DNST3 gene resembles a bicycle run over by a garbage truck.
