Try it again, but with the expectation that you'll make two of them. When the negative things crop up, put them on a second collage. Work on them simultaneously. When you're done, delete the negative one and print the positive one. You will have concrete proof that you are trying to focus on and choose positivity in your life. Hang it up somewhere so you can look at it every day and remind yourself that you are working on getting where you want to be.
