I have a lot of empathy and I need it for the field I'm in, caregiving. I work with residents who have severe dementia and often can only hold something in their mind for literally one second, and then they ask the same question they just asked you, ad infinitum. I'm able to stay patient and see things from their point of view the best I can though, and I've gotten a lot of love back from my residents.

I think bipolar, and all of the suffering I've gone through is what made me so empathetic to begin with. I understand what it's like to be having a horrible time, and I've learned ways to help, or just listen. A lot of time that's all people need, is to be listened to. Even if they're 100 years old and their speech is garbled. They just want to be heard.
