Father's day does not seem to openly bring out the upsettedness like mother's day does. Some people have equally rotten fathers but the emotional upheaval around it does not seem as great. I, of course, go to how deep misogyny goes - even in disney rotten mothers and step mothers are rampant (almost all of them) but let a father sacrifice his daughter to a beast (beauty and the beast) or fail to protect or provide and people don't get as worked up. The lion king dad dies - sadness but in finding nemo - mom and 1000 siblings gone and everyone gets all smooshy because of how the dad cares. (this is not to defend rotten mothers but to wonder over why rotten dads are not as vilified).
