CANDC has already made some excellent suggestions, so I will only add a few more.

Make sure you stay away from caffeine or over stimulating TV shows close to bedtime, too.
Make sure that the room is dark or only a small night light.
No TV or radio on.
If you have trouble sleeping with total silence use an app that provides white noise, which is just a constant noise to keep you from hearing sounds that might wake.
And if you have trouble going to sleep the make apps that provide relaxation techniques. One I like is called Relax.
