ok, since we have ventured into the carelessness of 'pets' also... LOL... You guys will LOVE this one.
I teach 3rd grade and bought a hermit crab for my class at the beginning of last year. Weeeeeeeeeeell, I got a nice LARGE 40 gallon tank, but apparently they need more water then I thought and he didn't even make it to the first day of school (my murder of my hermit crab is NOT the funny part. Yes, I am ashamed of myself for the neglect.... if I'm not careful, I can manage to kill even plastic plants)! The awesome part is in the hermit crab mishap, I found a pet I CAN manage.................... the GHOST of a hermit crab!!!!!!!!!!!! Seeeee, after a few days of walking around in the tank, he made AWESOME tracks all over the tank. Before I realized he was no longer with us, I thought he was just burrowing during the day. SOOOOOO when school started, I never directly answered the "where is the crab at" question, but deflected to the fact that hermit crabs are nocturnal animals. The entire year the kids 'assumed' we had a pet hermit crab that ran around while they were at home and slept during school and nobody was the wiser....
yes, again I am ashamed..
but you better believe I have that tank with those tracks all set up for this year.. just no crab neglect needed this year... I am ready for my carefree class pet
