I'm not sure that this is really what is causing your depression. I am sure it is adding to it, though. Perhaps your own feelings of inadequacy in controlling your own world, the things that really are affecting you personally (like where you live or how much money you have, things like that) is what is feeding your own depression? IDK, I am just surmising.
To blame the world is very common. When we are dissatisfied within we as humans have a habit of taking the focus off ourselves and placing it out there on the world. The good thing is this is changeable. There is something you have control over, and yes, I believe even one person can make a big difference in the world.
Try to not listen to the news and the programs that show only hatred and hunger in the world. That won't help you feel better now, when you are already overwhelmed with your own life's circumstances.
Try to surround yourself with simple beauty and things you like. Try to reconnect with things that you know used to bring you happiness. Realize you can heal, and will with good effort and time.

I hope you can find a good path to walk.
