I imagine that some of the most awesome as well as some of the most disastrous things have happened as a result of mania and mixed states by people with bipolar disorder. I imagine it would ultimately be a very chaotic and destructive world, even more so than now, anyway. I think it is good to have it lightly peppered throughout humanity, though. I've even read some interesting theories that bipolar disorder may have had some advantages in our more primitive days and thus why it was not eliminated by natural selection.
