L-Tryptophan is an amino acid, found in almost all proteins.
5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan) is produced during metabolism of L-Tryptophan.
SAM-E (S-adenosyl methionine) is produced from metabolism of L-Methionine, another amino acid, also found in almost all proteins.
In my opinion, people whose diet includes an adequate intake of protein are not likely to be deficient in any of them so, unless there is medical advice which indicates otherwise, taking them as supplements is unlikely to be of much benefit.
