In response to the original question:

I think it's pretty clear it's a personal choice whether ppl choose to give their real name in chat, pm, and the forum.

I would not do so for my own reasons unless I really got close with someone, which I've only given it maybe 2x. I don't see a reason to for myself, but that's a choice I've made.

If someone was to only use their name in pm I think it's safe to say not to use it while in the post and if you are unsure ... ask them and respect that answer, which I'm sure everyone would.

I wouldn't use someone's name unless they have responded in the postings using it in response to me. If they put it out in the public I'm guessing they are ok with it, but I'd still ask that person first what name can I call them...be it in chat or in public forum.

I think it's all up to the person and their choice. If they decided to use it ...then I'm ok with that...it's a decision they made and there is nothing wrong with that.
