twirls, I can really relate to what you wrote. My first counselor was really nice and I liked her, and supported me during really hard times. But there reached a point where I outgrew her--I had exhausted her skill set. I could not move further in the direction I wanted/needed with her. So I discontinued seeing her and didn't see anyone for a while. Then I found a new therapist who could help me move forward and had different skills and approaches up his sleeve.

I think it is OK if you need to see someone new. It doesn't necessarily mean you don't like the other therapist, just that you need something/someone different right now. Or maybe you will even take a break from therapy and assess where you are now and where you need to go and how a therapist might help you with that. That sort of reflection will help you when and if you do choose a new therapist.

Good luck.
