In the US, they're about $100 but you can get free ones if you volunteer to go into a research programme, the results are a lot more detailed than Northern Europe nowadays! It's because more and more people get tested, so the databases get more and more accurate. As for Neanderthal, it depends on your genes. I just found it all really interesting, especially when you start reading more about it. Have a look at 23andme and Family Tree DNA, you'll see what I mean.
