Bipolar can make it difficult. I was diagnosed Bipolar after I was married. It fits. I accepted it quickly and set to work on how to find stability and lessen my swings.
I think marriage counseling will help and your seeing a Therapist (T) on your own will certainly help you find balance and learn coping skills that will help you, stay more in control, Breathing exercises, Medication, Mindfulness, Meditation
I have said some really ugly things when I have been out of mind manic and Psychotic.. I always make ammends and say I am sorry ( and mean it) and strive to not "go there" again.
But sometimes Bipolar does cause us to say things we would never do if we were stable and in control. I'm glad your wife is supportive... make sure she knows just how much you love her..
