Yes, you're correct - you needed the first 5 posts approved (at point in time of me replying to this particular post; you have 9 posts displaying, which will obviously increase the more you make ...) A "post" is a new thread, like the one you created, or a reply to a thread (like my reply here) ... they all total your tally for number of posts.
