Noncomposmentis8,
What a very unprofessional thing that your doctor did to you. Saying “Do you have $30,000” because you're very concern about the possible side effects from the medication just shows the doctor his arrogance.
This is the reason why I don't bother seeing psychiatrists anymore because they always seem to have something smart to say when it comes to your general health. They also think that the only treatment to “cure” our “mental problems” is by medications and by medications only.
Noncomposmentis said that he had a bad experience with medications last year and now hes afraid to take them. This is a perfectly normal situation here. His doctor should of have showed him some compassion to what hes been through and to NOT give up on him simply because he's not taking the medication. I find it hilarious to see psychiatry claiming that their mental health experts, YET fail to understand the concept of FEAR.
Just for instincts. I had a very bad experience inside of a psychiatric hospital where I was almost raped. Now I'm afraid to go back to the hospital. I got burnt and I'm not going to be burnt again, simply as that
The moral of this is that normal people will NOT retouch the red hot stove once they get burnt. It's just the part of being a human.
Noncomposmentis I think about you every day.. You just need to find a better doctor, or better yet go to a therapist. Medications should be the last option as far as treatment goes.
