I would require the health care workers to write down ALL instructions in the future.

This will allow at least two advantages for you:

1) you will have in writing what they say and mean

2) it will give you time --away from their influence-- to read it and decide what to do



When I "managed" people (yes we called it that back then) I had a note pad that said "Verbal orders don't work."
