I have worked in child care for 8 years, and currently I am studying Early Childhood Education. You are right. The thought of being wrongfully accused of sexually abusing a child is terrifying. I was physically abused by a babysitter when I was 8, and it bordered on sexual abuse. My parents didn't take it seriously when my sisters and I told them what happened, and asked the babysitter to come back the following week. She did the same thing again, and although we never had that babysitter again, my parents never reported the abuse to the police. They never told us what she did was wrong. I shudder to think of what else that babysitter has done since then.
