I started my journey of active self development this spring. By reading some self help books, and weeding out those books and theories that seem to be false or rather should I call them "quick fixes" and such. I had heard of mindfulness before, but it seemed like this trendy thing at that time when it peaked in Norway so I didn't really bother get into it before now - now that I actively investigated self development, enlightenment and such.

I have been practicing and studying it quite a lot the recent month and I find it already helping me slightly. I feel a lot of emotions when meditating, but it really seems to help me look into the depths of them and help me "control" them, or rather let them come and go more naturally than just showing them aside. You know what I mean?

And yeah! The thing Kiwi33 said about thoughts and feelings not defining you really gave me an a-ha moment once I read that in my book on mindfulness. I like the approach mindfulness has to change my mindset to allow feelings to come, being aware of them but reminding you that you aren't your feelings. You are just feeling them. Thats a crucial point
