An excellent Bible I have been using is the "English Standard Version",
which is a literal translation, word for word. I am very pleased with it since it is not a "paraphrase" or someone's interpretation of the Bible passages. It is one of many excellent translations, which include the New American Standard Bible, New King James Version, etc.
