My father was a saddlemaker.....and to this day a lot of the leather making machines are treadle......I always liked the motion so much.....I used to take the bobbin out and unthread the machine, and just sit there and work the treadle.........it was almost like a meditation.......soothing....in the motion.....my grandmother had one, too......

It must seem quite intimidating, to go from being so connected to the speed of what you were sewing, with the treadle, and then find the speed of electric...!!!.......

I have a few leather sewing machines that scare me when I sew on them....just the rumble they make when you turn them on.....they are so powerful, made to go through such heavy leathers........They are fast.....I have one that I call my little Porche.......

You will enjoy your new machine....the more you use it the more comfortable you will be......and the new things they do with sewing machines is amazing.....they are wondrous tools for creativity......

As for less cussing.....all artists curse, don't they...?..
