Having just read a very interesting comic/essay on viruscomix.com (it's safe, no worries) where the characters talk about 'intrusive thoughts'

They provide some leads on this and I started reading

My whole life... all my dark thoughts... some one else has these and lives with them

All my anxieties, personal demons, quiet regrets, fettering fears and shameful personal acts... they have a name

It appears to be a variant of OCD and the thoughts can trigger depression and self-loathing because of what acts or behaviours they shout out to us
