Yeah... if they don't know you they probably wouldn't. Worse, since you'd be new, they might tag you as a drug-seeker. You can't go to the last doctor that filled it, or call them for a refill? Seems like it would be less anxiety-producing than going to a new primary care, or worse, going through withdrawal.
