I agree with Christina, most of the times I've gone it's because my behavior is so out of control I am an immediate danger to myself. its a last resort because it always messes up work and my son and things like that. I've been ip an absurd amount of times and I never understood why I end up ip and other people don't....but anyway. It's not a hotel trip.

If you go ip it is considered a medical emergency and your work has to respect That. Asking them for time off will probably not work but if you end up in the hospital they can't fire you for it (legally). Like Christina said, if you're having a hard time but think you can be safe, look in to iop or php. May require less time off.
