I was listening to Dr Reid Wilson in an online summit where he mentions we have to go in and access a safe but reasonable fascimile of the fear(that original fear with somebody with ptsd) and have them hang out in that feeling and amygdala learns that it is secreting too much epeneferin and it begins to quiet down as long as we don't scare ourself. Is he talking about prolonged exposure therapy here?
If so, how do I find a therapist who would be willing to help me hang out in the fear or trauma and move towards the fear?
I live in Toronto, Canada and there are 10s to 100s of therapists on psychologytoday.com but how do I know which one does the therapy Dr Wilson is talking about?
