Yeah I think it's the needle damaging the muscle, they use smaller gauge needles in your arm than in your hip/bum but it still causes lumps. I had a friend who, when younger, got insulin every day into her upper arms. It caused really bad lumps that never went away and now she's paranoid about it and won't wear string tops, etc. I'd keep an eye on it because it seems to be permanent. I get mine in my arm but I'm watching it to make sure it doesn't get bad.
