I have been diagnosed with attention problems. It is weird but I enjoy learning but I hate school namely because of teachers/professors. I find most of them to be bullies and not helpful.

I do not want extra time on a test or extra time to do a task but I really resented one of my past professors. I was in a PhD program and I was very enthusiastic about it. Initially, I put in a lot effort but as my supervisor got increasingly belligerent and hostile towards me, my motivation waned. I still did work but not nearly as much as I used to. I told my supervisor that I was diagnosed with attention problems and I never asked for special treatment. Instead, he singled me out and tried to discourage me. He succeeded and I could not finish.

I certainly tapered off during the end of my tenure but my supervisor was a big jerk towards me too.

Do you guys find that your performance, motivation, etc. are influenced by the way your supervisor/professor acts?

For those with ADHD, do you have trouble working with hostile supervisors/professors?
