From what you wrote, it sounds as if you and your therapist may not be a good match. Sometimes you need to meet with several therapists before you find a good fit.
Can you bring up your concerns with your therapist and see if she can suggest ways to improve your therapy that deal with your concerns? Your concerns are very important and do need to be addressed if you are to continue productively with this therapist.

She calls my mum and tells her that i am suicidal, which upsets my mum greatly, when suicide is not even an issue. (Why she even needs to call my mum considering Im 25 is beyond me)

It sounds like she may be violating therapist-client confidentiality, an ethical breech. Please talk with her about this. I believe if suicide is an issue, she is obligated to contact someone who can help you (e.g. a hospital or in-patient clinic?). However, I don't think that even if suicide is an issue, she can call your mother, as you are an adult. Please make clear to her that she does not have your permission to contact your family members.

I want to ask for a new therapist but I have seen the hassle other people have gone through only to get no results.

Why is it a hassle? Is there a lot of red tape? Do you need to justify to your therapist's supervisor why you can't work with her?
There is a psychotherapy forum here on PC, and you may get some good advice if you post there. Some people there have experience with DBT.
Good luck. Sounds like a difficult situation.
