also in the UK they may be just finally recognizing DID is real but here in america it has been recognized as real for quite some decades. the only difference here in america is that the diagnostic labeling has changed over the decades from being called hysteria, to MPD to DID. here in america there are documentations of DID way back before 1950's with cases like Shirley Mason (aka Sybil) and Chris Sizemore (aka Eve from the Three faces of Eve case).
