I don't know what Smarties are in South Africa, but here where I live (United States) Smarties are basically little buttons of sugar and some tart flavoring. No chocolate. There are smaller ones (rolls of 15 about the size of my pinky finger) and bigger ones (rolls of like 12 or 15 that are about the same size as those Neco candies, about 2cm in diamater and maybe 5-6 inches in length). Some people like to crush the smaller ones and snort them.
