This is difficult, and although I know it's not the exact same thing, I have heard from people who were making a living from YouTube videos and gaining a following had their incomes cut due to changes in compensation policy. I don't know anything about this industry, but I think what you are struggling with is feeling like you have to get a job that you really won't like. I might suggest continuing to try to research alternate ways to make money doing what you love. But also, I think we would all like to be able to completely make a living solely pursuing our passion, but many people have to get "day jobs" or whatever you want to call it so that they have a steady income while they are still pursuing their passion. Hopefully over time, you can make more and more money with your passion and less and less money with your "day job." It is painful to have to adjust one's goals though, but perhaps you won't have to give up as much as you think
