Hi Tranquility,
I agree - it's best to talk with your doctor, and let them diagnose what is wrong.
That being said, trochanteric bursitis is one of the health difficulties I'm dealing with. There are various treatments for it, so if it proves this is the diagnosis you have, there are probably some good things the doctor can recommend. I'm doing physical therapy now, and we are treating my hips as well as other problems I'm having. I've also had cortisone injections for this problem, and they've helped, too. Each person and case is different, but there are various treatments which can often help if this is what is causing your hip pain.
As hard as it is, try to take things one step at a time, and see what comes from the MRI tests. When do you expect the results? If it will be a long wait, and you are in too much pain in the meantime, maybe you can call your physician and ask if it is okay to use heat and/or ice treatments in the meantime, or over-the-counter pain medications like Tylenol, Advil, or Aleve, if you're allowed to take them. You could also try taking a warm bath. Sometimes those sorts of things can help a lot.
Take care, and I hope you'll get a better idea of what's going on, and how to help things feel better, soon!
Take care,
ErinBear
